Understanding Medicare Coverage Options

Medicare is health insurance for people 65+ and some under 65 with certain conditions. While Original Medicare (Parts A & B) covers hospital and medical care, it doesn’t include everything—and it isn’t free. That’s why many people choose additional coverage through private insurers.

Additional Medicare Coverage Options:

Medicare Advantage (Part C):

Combines Parts A & B, usually includes drug coverage, and may offer dental, vision, and fitness benefits.

Medicare Supplement (Medigap):

Helps cover out-of-pocket costs not paid by Original Medicare.

Prescription Drug Plans (Part D):

Standalone plans that help cover the cost of medications.

Special Needs Plans (SNPs):

Tailored Medicare Advantage plans for people with specific needs—like those who have both Medicare and Medicaid (Dual SNPs).
